IMMIGRATION MINISTRY – LENTEN CALENDAR 2018
Since 2006, we have provided a Lenten Calendar asking all Catholics to accompany immigrants on their journey for justice. This year, please pray, fast, and act in support of the DREAM Act.
PRAY – God of all families, cultures, and nations you invite all of us to work together by accepting one another, appreciating one another, and valuing the gifts that each immigrant and refugee bring to us. Teach us to hold one another in love and respect. Today you invite all people – especially our young DREAMers- to bring their gifts and allow them to grow for the good of all. Help us to welcome and appreciate each other in our parish communities. We pray this in Christ our Lord. AMEN.
FAST – One day a week during Lent eat one simple meal consisting of rice and beans to commemorate Christ’s fasting during the wilderness and to empathize with immigrants coming to our country “hungry” for a better and dignified life.
ACT – During Lent, please email your elected officials to work towards a permanent and compassionate solution for DREAMers and their families. Visit the USCCB website to send an electronic postcard at: https://justiceforimmigrants.org/take-action/action-alerts/.
