Welcome Fr. Ray Flores, O.S.A.!
Hello! I’m so happy to be joining Fr. Homero and the parish staff here at St. Rita’s. Here’s a little bit about myself, as a way of introduction.
I was born and raised in Silver City, NM — a small town in southwest NM, a great place to grow up and be surrounded by family and friends. I’m one of seven children to my parents, Eduardo and Lucille. There are two sets of twins in my family. I’m the older of the first set, by one minute. My paternal grandma was born in Durango, Mexico.
I studied at Mundelein Seminary and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Las Cruces on June 11, 2005. I had the wonderful opportunity of serving at three parishes while I was in the diocese of Las Cruces: Holy Cross, Our Lord of Mercy and St. Albert the Great Newman center.
After 12 years of priesthood I began to discern a “vocation within a vocation” and thus began my journey into the Augustinian community. Following a year of prayer & discernment I made an application to and was accepted as a novice for the Midwest Province and successfully completed a one year novitiate experience which consisted of prayer, discernment, study, and living and learning the Augustinian way of life.
I’m very happy to be assigned as the associate pastor, helping Fr. Homero and the parish staff to realize the kingdom of God in our local faith community. Know that all of you are in my prayers and please pray for me as I unpack and settle in.
