In the Summer of 2021, the Vicariate V of the Archdiocese of Chicago interviewed our Pastor Father Homero Sánchez as one of the “Good Samaritans” of Vicariate V, doing everything possible during the Covid-19 pandemic to help others. In this interview, Father Homero explained that despite of St. Rita Community being a poor parish, St. Rita’s food drive helped to serve almost 500 families a week during the pandemic. Utilizing the help of volunteers, Father Homero helped those in need while also strengthening the bonds within his community. Despite a lack of funding and a global pandemic, Father Homero and St. Rita found a way to make an impact on their community, which he takes the time to talk about in this interview.
